Final Artist statement #2

For this project, I figured out the story of the soundscape when I was listening to the different audios and choosing which ones I would use. I figured I could go through a day in a linear motion by going through the morning routine, then getting out, driving around, going to cafes/bars, then coming back and going to sleep with the ringing. For the most part, it was pretty narrative and I added some effects that I thought would add to the story without distracting too much which some things worked and some did not as well. While I was messing around with the audio, I also found some tools that weren't discussed in class that I wanted to use such as the panning audio which I used on the sound of a bus driving by and at the end with the shaker. But hearing it on the classroom speakers, it was kind of hard to tell but it was much more prominent when I was editing with headphones on. I think some places could have used some tweaking of the audio clips as well as throwing new ones in to add more texture and depth. But overall this project was a fun one for me since editing is my favorite part of filmmaking and I am currently taking a sound design class right now. I enjoy being able to sit down with a bunch of clips and just throw them into a timeline in any way I want while also messing around with effects, narrative, structure, etc.
